Welcome

As we celebrate the sesquicentennial (1851-2001) of the permanent establishment of the Roman Catholic Church in Belize, we invite you to join us in repairing, enhancing and restoring some features of one of the landmarks on North Front Street in the heart of historic Belize City.

Built in 1858, Holy Redeemer Cathedral has undergone many changes. Its plastered brick walls, massive columns of solid mahogany, and its soaring high altar of classic Greco-Roman design withstood the ravages of catastrophic hurricanes and nearby conflagrations over the years. The passage of time and termites, however, have left their marks.

The center of Roman Catholic worship in Belize, and a major attraction to tourists, the Cathedral building is in need of repairs to its roof, bell towers, stained glass windows, interior woodwork, central portico and side entrances. Help us to carry out these necessary works which will secure for the Cathedral a place in the hearts of Belizeans and lovers of Belize for generations to come. Your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
